The term psychonaut has Greek origins, meaning “mind-sailor” or “sailor of the soul.” Although often used in reference to the psychedelic movement, as the text ends, the term becomes the final symbol for you and the future of psychology. In space, astronauts are removed from the stresses of daily life, which offers the opportunity to gain a different perspective and view human existence with a new vision. Inspired by this incredible experience astronauts are forever changed. Like the astronauts, the hope is that the text has provided “space” for new perspectives on psychological history and the power of symbol. But most importantly how you might have changed. Like the psychonaut becoming an active participant in exploring the creation of a better world.
