An endogenous psychedelic in the human body DMT is a rapid-onset, intense, and short-acting psychedelic compound often referred in the 1960s as the “the businessman trip.” This tryptamine molecule is found in plants and animals and, unlike LSD or psilocybin, DMT experiences are short lasting, with rapid onset lasting 6 to 20 minutes.
