Watsonian psychology has been described as “slot-machine psychology” because it was a psychology that operated like slot machines in casinos throughout the world. For Watson, behavior was an immediate result from a stimulus (S) in, and a response (R) out. It is a symbol that might be viewed as critical of Watsonian psychology or a symbol that Watson himself might embrace.
