In Jungian psychology, the shadow is the unconscious aspect of personality that the ego rejects and cannot identify with consciously. Often thought of as the “dark side of the psyche,” it is not just the rejection of negative self-attributions; it is also repression of aspects of personality that are not socially acceptable; the sum of our collective psychology denied expression in our conscious life.
