Fig 2.1 – Four Forces of Psychology
Text: Page 49
The four major forces recognized in psychology provide different but important understanding of the human experience. As an overview, the psychoanalytic force explores the unseen unconscious world. The behavioral force explores the world that can be seen, observed, and measured. The humanistic- existential force explores the purpose and meaning of existence. The transpersonal force explores the world beyond the ego, the human need for spiritual, mystical, and ascetic experiences. Even though all are influenced by the social, natural, and hermeneutic interests, the final five chapters will show how each force arrived at different conclusions.
