Noble Eightfold Path
- Right View or Right Understanding leads to the true nature of reality.
- Right Intention comes from an unselfish desire for enlightenment.
- Right Speech uses speech compassionately.
- Right Action results from ethical and compassionate behavior.
- Right Livelihood results from making a living that is ethical.
- Right Effort results from cultivating healthy qualities and discarding unhealthy qualities.
- Right Mindedness occurs when there is whole body-and- mind awareness.
- Right Concentration occurs through meditation or a similar concentrated practice.
The Noble Eightfold Path to nirvana is part of the fourth Noble Truth, which involves psychologically disciplining the mind by right understanding, right intention, right speech, right action, right livelihood, right effort, right mindfulness, and right concentration. It is symbolic of conquering death, the end of samsara and dukkha.
